Myrtle Beach is one of the fastest growing cities in America. But, the mental health aspect has not changed. Residents struggle to find places to get appointments, and if they do, there is more than a month long waitlist. Aside from that, the prices are astronomical, which many residents cannot afford.

Myrtle Beach is a very fast growing area with tons of potential! The Carolina Forest area is more of the family oriented area and as someone who grew up in the school systems here I highly recommend them!

Vacationed in Myrtle Beach over 50 years prior to moving here. Love being convenient to shopping and music venues. There’s always some festival going on. My church is located nearby, therefore, I have made a few friends and many acquaintances.

The beaches are beautiful. Nice place to vacation and has a lot of family friendly activities. Could use some clean up and more safety precautions

Amazing weather, but not as much to do as expected. Decent food but a trip to Charleston can solve a lot of the issues within MB since it is only 1.5 hours away. Beaches are maintained and cleaned, so they stay beautiful year round. No shortage of golf options as well.

I suppose it depends on where you go and who you're with. At Myrtle Beach You could be having the time of your life on roller coaster rides and getting ice cream, and then you make one wrong turn and you're completely lost. It's very large and a very fun place just be safe and be careful There are many cops everywhere so you're definitely safe no matter where you go, and It's overall a fun experience. Many people come here to vacation simply because of the beach while others come here on their normal daily lives. Our community is very eco-friendly and likes to keep her beach clean.

I was one of many to relocate to this area during the pandemic. I decided to make the move hoping to expand my career & find new opportunities in doing so.
It has been 4 years since the move & I no longer believe that it was the right decision.
I do not believe that Myrtle Beach is utilizing the money being made from our tourists properly. We tax our locals equally yet our city does not reflect that. We are in dire need of upgrades- from the sidewalks and roads to our lack of public restrooms throughout our beaches & other tourist areas. The residents of Myrtle Beach are often only offered seasonal positions & receive below than average pay wages. All while unable to partake in privately owned beaches, resorts & other entertainment activities in the area due to being a local resident & not a tourist. Affordable housing in this area does not exist.
I would like to see this area put it's focus back into the needs of it's residents & the future of the children who are being raised here.

More diversity and more programs for the young. Many programs here appear to begin only from 3 years old.

Very nice, Summers are amazing with it's warm weather and the beaches as well. As much as it's nice though, it is a huge tourist area. Off-seasons are nice and quiet but during the summer every place around here is PACKED. But overall, the tourist areas are great, especially in off-season and the local discounts are nice too.

Not a very welcoming environment. There are more activities and amazing restaurants than one could ever go to in a trip, however, the locals are less than savory.

I've lived here for 16 years. Through those sixteen years, I have gotten to enjoy all of the amazing things that this city has to offer. For example, I've always loved going to Broadway at the Beach and Market Commons. I would recommend moving here to someone who may be deciding what they want to do during the next few years in their life.

It's fantastic living close to a beach. The ability to drive around in a golfcart to most areas is fun, and my two young children love the space to run around. The weather is usually humid and warm, which is great. The only downside to residing in this area is the food- it's hard to find a great place to eat, but once you do, it's your go-to spot!

My specific area of Myrtle Beach is Carolina Forest. I have seen this town grow very quickly, and it seems to be on the brink of a population that has outgrown its space. There are many people continuously moving from all areas, but much of the northern states, to Myrtle Beach in general, and the population keeps increasing with minimal room for expansion. The overall status of Carolina Forest and Myrtle Beach is still good, however, there are still a good amount of areas that could use some improvement, updating, or prevalence. The schools of which I have attended are relatively good as well; however, as almost every school system is, they could use some improvement and change.

I moved here from New York when I was eight years old. I've grown up here. And even though it is a popular place, I do wish that it was more artsy. I love when you can walk through a city or a town and you can see the culture throughout the place. But I feel like every tourist-y beach town is exactly the same. But it's warm, at least. It stays warm for a really long time.

Myrtle Beach is a very popular area for tourists and retiree's alike, so much so that it is very expensive to live here. We have many fun spots around the beach that are great to visit but get boring as a local, so much so that many places constantly change just so they can get customers. Best time to come to myrtle beach is before holidays or the summer, those times are filled to the brim with traffic or road accidents because of tourists. At night you'll wanna travel with a group since it can get pretty sketchy, I've had my fair share of run in's with some unsavory people, so safety in numbers is a must. Many locals here are pretty friendly so don't worry about getting lost, just ask someone where something is and they will tell you. Beware of potholes if you decide to come here, we have a lot of potholes on the roads that need to be filled, so stay vigilant. Other than these things Myrtle beach is a nice diverse place for families and those alike to come to.
